Hockey PEI Return to Hockey
2020-10-11Members,
On October 5, 2020, the Hockey PEI Board of Directors officially approved the move to a Modified Phase 4 of the Return to Hockey Plan, effective October 13, 2020. For utmost clarity: until October 13, no games, exhibition or otherwise, are to be played by Hockey PEI members.
With this decision, Hockey PEI will be returning to “regular” gameplay, including full-body contact, as well as inter-association games. However, this move will certainly require some compromise and cooperation from our members regarding safety and hygiene protocols so
that we can operate to our full potential under the CPHO Guidelines

Brief Summary Of Protocols:
Spectators:
Facilities such as Cody Banks, Cari and Simmons are continuing to work with the Cheif Public Health Office to allow the safe return of spectators. Currently, we are operating under 2 Cohorts of 50 people at each of these facilities. Unfortunately, with the larger number of players and coaches still participating in tryouts and exhibition games, this doesn't allow for spectators at this time. The Association is hopeful a workable solution with be implemented by the facilities in the coming weeks. We ask for your continued patience on this matter.
Participant Tracking:
All players, coaches, officials and spectators must be tracked and that information must be stored for 30 days for potential contact tracing.
Those participating or attending a Hockey PEI activity are required to pre-screen before arriving at the activity; by attending, that participant is acknowledging that they pass the screening requirements. The pre-screening requirements will be frequently communicated to ensure
individuals understand when they may not be permitted to attend.
It will be the responsibility of the Team Liaison to ensure all participants associated with their team (parents and spectators included) are tracked appropriately.
Masks:
Except for players on the ice surface (and coaches during practice), masks must be
worn by Hockey PEI members, including:
made by the Minor Hockey Associations or Hockey PEI when accompanied by a physician’s note.
The Association will continue to work with Hockey PEI and our Facilities as their guidelines and protocols evolve. Therefore, with these uncertain times, we may need to adjust our planning and outcomes, to align with the objectives of the Cheif Public Office, Hockey PEI and Facilities. We continue to ask for your understanding and patience while we work through the plans to return our members to the game they love
Sincerely
