***HPEI NOTICE*** - EASE OF CIRCUIT BREAKER RESTRICTIONS AHEAD OF PROVINCIALS / LEAGUE PLAYOFFS

2021-03-12

Members,

Hockey PEI has released the following memo.

TO: HOCKEY PEI MEMBERSHIP
DATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 12TH, 2021
RE: EASE OF CIRCUIT BREAKER RESTRICTIONS AHEAD OF PROVINCIALS / LEAGUE PLAYOFFS

As announced by the Chief Public Health Office, circuit breaker measures will be eased beginning Saturday, March 13th at 8:00 AM. This comes as great news to Hockey PEI which will permit the 2020-21 Provincial Championships to go ahead, barring no further setbacks before March 19th.

The reduced restrictions will mean the following for organized recreational sports to include Hockey PEI activities.
  • Competition will now be permitted such as games.
  • Games are permitted to operate with a limit of 50 people within the on-ice cohort. Three additional groups of 50 (200 total) are permitted with an approved operational plan.
  • Enhanced attention to records for contact tracing is required.
In light of today’s announcement, Hockey PEI wants to inform members wishing to schedule exhibition games before the conclusion of the season to consult with their Minor Hockey Association regarding covering of game fees. Teams wanting to proceed with scheduling exhibition games are also asked to submit an Official Exhibition Game Form to the Hockey PEI office (info@hockeypei.com).

Hockey PEI looks forward to executing and completing the 2020-21 Hockey Season including both Provincial Championship weekends in a safe and exciting manner and wants to extend its appreciation to all members who have been understanding during these challenging times.

Kind regards,
Robert MacMillan
Hockey PEI Minor Council Chair
