Facilities COVID Guideless and Protocols

2021-09-07

Good evening members

With the 2021-2022 season upon us, we must ensure we operate safely and follow the Chief Public Health Office, Hockey PEI, and Facilities guidelines and protocols. Many of our teams play out of Cody Banks/Simmons and Bell Aliant Centre (BAC). The facilities have provided the following guidelines that must be adhered to by coaches, players, parents, and spectators. Like last year, teams will have a COVID Liaison who will ensure everyone is following these guidelines.

CODY BANKS/SIMMONS:

Cody Banks Arena will follow the same operational plan as last season with four cohorts (zones).  Each cohort is now allowed 100 people, which is up from 50 when we closed last season. All zones (cohorts of 100) must remain separate at all times and must not crossover into one another.

Below is a list of rules that must be followed.
  • On-ice users can enter the main entrance a maximum of 30 minutes before their ice time and must depart within 15 minutes of completing their ice time.
  • Spectators may enter the spectator entrance at the exact start of the ice time and depart immediately after completion of the ice time.
  • Screening and contact tracing must take place at the entry points (main entrance and spectator entrance (if used)).
  • Non-medical masks are recommended throughout the facility when social distancing is not possible.

BELL ALIANT CENTRE (BAC):

For now, the Bell Aliant renas will be operating with the same OP plan as last spring. The only difference is that most cohort's max of 50 is now 100, where proper social distancing can be adhered to.

Below is a list of rules that must be followed.
  • Ice cohort enters through the main entrance 30 mins prior and must depart 20 minutes following the end of ice time.
  • Screening and contact tracing must take place at the entry point (at the stairs, then down the stairs to the dressing room.)
  • Ice cohorts must remain in the dressing rooms until the start of ice time (no warming up in hallways, taping sticks, parents hanging out in the hallway.)
  • Spectators - 1 cohort of 100 for each rink - ice times over 1 hr on A permitted 2nd cohort of 100- enter through the main entrance at the start of ice time, contact traced by Subway and into the arenas through the upper hallway.
  • Spectators must leave immediately at the finish of ice time.
  • Spectators can all use the upper arena hallway bathrooms, no loitering in this hallway, and groups should proceed directly to the arena seating.
  • Non-medical masks are recommended in areas you can't social distance like hallways and dressing rooms unless in a helmet.

Please check your child for COVID-like symptoms prior to each on-ice activity. The screening questionnaire can be found here: http://sprmha.com/page.php?page_id=122815

If you have answered "YES" to any of the questions, please DO NOT send your child to on-ice activities at this time. Consult your health care provider or call 811 to determine when you can return to on-ice activities and whether you need to be tested for COVID19

If you have answered "No" to all the above questions, you may send your child to on-ice activities.

The Association will continue to work with Chief Public Office, Hockey PEI, and our Facilities as their guidelines and protocols change or evolve. Therefore, we may need to adjust our planning and outcomes to align with the objectives of the Chief Public Office, Hockey PEI, and Facilities. We continue to ask for your understanding and patience.

Sincerely
