HOCKEY PEI JOINING MARITIME MAJOR U18 FEMALE HOCKEY LEAGUE; AWARDS TWO ISLAND FRANCHISES
2022-08-02Hockey PEI is excited to announce it has officially joined the Maritime Major Female Hockey League along with its neighboring Hockey branches, Hockey New Brunswick and Hockey Nova Scotia.
This announcement brings great excitement around the growing female game here on Prince Edward Island and expands the opportunity for girls in the Under-18 division to have the chance to showcase their skills regionally year round.
With this announcement, Hockey PEI is pleased to announce the two operating groups who have been awarded franchises following the bid application process.
The Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) along with the Summerside Western Capitals of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) were the two successful
groups who will each operate franchises at the Major U18 female level this season on PEI and compete in the MMHL.
