The Bell Aliant Centre is a multiuse recreational facility established in 2004, through the collaboration of the City of Charlottetown, Town of Stratford and University of Prince Edward Island, to satisfy the Greater Charlottetown Area’s need for additional ice surfaces, an updated pool, and a dedicated facility for the Seniors Active Living Centre. This 160,000 plus square foot facility is conveniently located on the campus of UPEI and has become a premiere hosting venue of World, National and Provincial tournaments, with the distinction of being the most active recreational facility on Prince Edward Island.
The Bell Aliant Centre features one of the most functional recreational setups in Atlantic Canada, with its two official NHL sized ice pads – MacLauchlan Arena, a 25-meter 8 lane competition pool, leisure and toddler pool, hot tub, accessible change rooms, waterslide and diving boards.
The centre has 3 community rooms including a board room and a fully licensed hospitality suite. The centre houses five private tenants, including the renowned Andrews Hockey Growth Program, the Seniors Active Living Centre, Frizzell’s Skate Sharpening, the University of Prince Edward Island’s Fitness Centre and a Subway restaurant.
